The latest buzz around the political water-cooler this morning is that Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour will be getting a bit of promotion. That’s right, it’s rumored (or should I say rumoured) that one of the most famous fashion editors is slated to get a political appointment as a liaison to either the U.K. or France. Personally, as a political junkie and fan of Ms. Wintour, I couldn’t be more excited. Unfortunately, not everyone feels the same way. Personally, I like the idea of having an ambassador who’s guaranteed not to make any faux-pas or step on any toes during events. Plus, she speaks her mind, and I always admire that in people. That bob and those sunglasses have become her trademark, and surely she’s earned international respect for her work. She’s decisive, classy, and stylish all at once. A killer combination for a politician. I’m not saying she should be President, but why not ambassador? I think she fits the bill perfectly.

Well, I’m sure people will call me out on how she’s gotten this potential appointment. She raised approximately $500,000 for President Obama’s re-election campaign. Now, it may be perfectly legal for her to get the appointment, but isn’t it a little transparent as to the reasoning behind it? But then again, that’s politics. Personally, I think that there could be far worse choices to represent the United States in some of the most fashionable places. I’m for anything that’ll help us shed that ugly American stigma we have. I think Ambassador Anna Wintour could be a small step into getting rid of it.

While she has remained tight-lipped regarding the potential appointment, she has also stated how much she enjoys her current job. I’m not buying it. She’s already very well connected, so why not use it toward the greater good? Personally, I think this is something she really wants and something she’s likely going to get. It’s like one of her own quotes says:  “It’s always about timing. If it’s too soon, no one understands. If it’s too late, everyone’s forgotten.”
